Quotes for today: The quote this month comes from the obituary of Frederick Erwin Foerster, M. D. as published in The New Mexican, Monday August 1, 2011. "All that we've been given by those who came before, the dream of a nation where freedom would endure. The work and prayers of centuries have brought us to this day. What shall be our legacy, what will our children say? Let them say of me, I was one who believed in sharing the blessing I received. Let me know in my heart when my days are through, America, America, I gave my best to you." ____________________________________________________________ |

Asking the wrong questions; 5. Confusing them; 6. Excluding the real decision maker; 7. Claiming credibility rather than demonstrating it; 8; Not speaking the "language;" 9. Making is difficult to work with you; 10. Not recognizing "hot buttons;" 11. Not showing respect; and 12. Being needy. ___________________________________________________________ News and Notes....WORKING
FOR THE GOVERNMENT - 1 out of every 6 American workers is employed
by the government, either at the federal, state or local level. When you

to 1 out of every 9 American workers is a government employee (source:
Department of Labor). LESS
THAN FIVE PERCENT - The population of the USA is 312 million.
Only 1 out of every 22 people in the world is an American (source: Census
Bureau). LONG LIFE - The oldest person in the world turned 115 years old on August 26, 2011. American citizen Besse Cooper, born 8/26/1896 in Tennessee, lives in a nursing home in Georgia (source: Guinness World Records). FOR SALE - As of 7/31/11, there were 3.65 million unsold existing homes in the USA (i.e., not counting new homes on the market that have not been previously occupied). 3 years earlier (7/31/08), there were 4.58 million existing homes for sale (source: National Association of Realtors). TAXABLE AND NONTAXABLE - In 2009, Americans filed 140.5 million individual tax returns. 58% of those returns (81.9 million returns) paid 100% of the federal income tax paid by all taxpayers ($866 billion of tax was paid). 42% of those returns (58.6 million returns) legally paid zero federal income tax (source: IRS). RICH KIDS - 86 Americans under the age of 18 filed individual tax returns in 2009 and reported adjusted gross income of at least $1 million (source: Internal Revenue Service).
